In short: a Baroxon boom barrier is the lowest-cost way to control a 3 m to 6 m vehicle lane in the UK, at £290 to £2,600 per unit including the arm, controller and remote.
Every gate is built in our own ISO 9001 factory, CE marked for the UK and EU, and delivered in 7 to 15 working days with a two-year warranty on motor, gearbox and control board. A brushless DC or heavy-duty AC drive with adjustable speed and soft start/stop moves the arm, while anti-collision radar, a fail-safe manual clutch and Wiegand, RS485, relay, loop-detector and TCP/IP interfaces let the gate be driven by an existing ANPR camera, RFID reader or building-management system. UK sites use them for office and retail entrances, residential estates, hospital and school car parks, industrial gates and municipal car parks. Arm length, power supply and finish are confirmed in writing at quotation stage.
Each paragraph below states the test condition, the measured value and the benchmark it is compared against, so it can be quoted on its own.
Test condition: 6 m straight aluminium arm, 24 V DC brushless drive, 20 °C ambient, 100 % duty cycle, no cooling pause. Result: 1.5 s opening and 1.8 s closing sustained for 3,000 consecutive cycles. Benchmark: an equivalent brushed-motor AC barrier is normally rated for 1,500 cycles before a 30-minute cool-down is required, so the Baroxon unit completes twice the work in the same window.
Test condition: bench cycle rig at rated load with the counterweight set per installation manual. Result: MCBF above 5,000,000 operations on the gearbox and motor assembly. Benchmark: unbranded brushed-motor barrier gates of the same arm length typically quote 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 operations, i.e. roughly one third of the service interval.
Test condition: IP54/65/66 housings exposed to a 12.5 mm nozzle water jet at 30 kPa for 3 minutes and 8 hours in a talc dust chamber. Result: zero dust ingress and no water in the control compartment; temperature range verified from −30 °C to +70 °C. Benchmark: many imported barriers that quote “weatherproof” are only IP44 rated, which is not sufficient for exposed UK coastal or roadside sites.
Test condition: 79 GHz radar module fitted to the boom, 1.2 t vehicle approaching a closing arm at 20 km/h. Result: obstruction detected and the arm reversed in under 0.3 s. Benchmark: BS EN 12453 allows up to 0.5 s for automatic vehicle barriers, so this leaves a 40 % safety margin.
Test condition: 6 m arm, 100 % counterweight balance, continuous crosswind at increasing speed. Result: no stalling or limit-switch drift up to 60 km/h. Benchmark: long arms without a correctly balanced counterweight typically stall above 40 km/h, which is common on exposed UK car-park decks.
Feedback from customers who installed this type of Baroxon equipment.
Great quality barrier gates. Works well under hot weather. Fast delivery and responsive after-sales service. Recommended for parking and compound access control.
These barriers handle heavy daily vehicle traffic reliably. Robust metal housing, resistant to outdoor weather. Happy with this purchase.
