ANPR and Parking Locks for a Liverpool Council Car Park

2026-09-21 14:12:39

Project summary

Industry: Public sector and municipal parking
Country / region: United Kingdom (Liverpool, Merseyside)
Model: ANPR-1L licence-plate reader with PL-350 induction parking lock
System scope: One vehicle lane, 260 spaces, 24 reserved bays with individual locks, bay-status dashboard

Site problem

Reserved bays were blocked by general parkers and the authority had no way to prove which bay a vehicle had used. Complaints about blocked bays were handled by inspection visits.

Baroxon solution

Baroxon combined an ANPR-controlled barrier with induction parking locks on the reserved bays. A lock is released only for the plate registered to that bay, and the dashboard shows live occupancy per bay rather than per car park.

Result on site

Bay availability is now enforced automatically and inspection visits were stopped. The authority can evidence bay usage from the system log rather than from photographs.

Measured outcome

Test condition: 24 induction parking locks in an open-air car park, 6 months of operation, 260 spaces, 25 to 60 mm ground clearance on a reinforced concrete slab. Measured value: no lock returned a false occupancy state across the trial period. Benchmark: locks fitted with a 5 to 10 mm clearance in the same vehicle class began to jam within weeks.

Why this configuration works here

Allocating a lock to a plate rather than a bay number removes the argument about who is entitled to the space, which is what generated the complaints.
